Bad Moon and Pretty Polish

This is a layering combination of Candy Lacquer- Bad Moon over Eyeko- Pretty Polish. Bad Moon is filled with black shards, and green hex glitter and moons. Its' really unique! It is pretty concentrated with glitter, so I'm just wearing one coat of it dabbed around.

Eyeko- Pretty Polish is a light, pale pink creme. The formula was a little bit thick, but I still needed three coats because the color kept dragging as I was applying it. This picture was taken in natural light as well as the first one.

Here is Pretty Polish with the flash. I purchased this polish in a blog sale a long time ago, and sadly Eyeko does not make polish anymore. I always thought their packaging and design was really cute.

Glow-in-the-Dark and Halloween Costume Mani

 I was pleased with the result of this combo. I topped off a Blue Cross unnamed glow in the dark blue with Liquid Lacquer (Formerly 2Chix)- Safety Stick. There's a lot going on with this- shards and bars of black glitter, large sheer-color hex glitter, and small pieces of silver glitter. To top it all off, it glows in the dark!

I used two coats of Safety Stick and dabbed it around for even coverage. This picture is with the flash.

Without the flash, you can see the smaller silver glitter. The large colored hexes in Safety Stick came right out of the bottle and there was no fishing necessary.

Here is the Blue Cross glow in the dark polish by itself. 

 This is with the flash. It was somewhat sheer and needed three coats. Blue Cross is the same brand that comes out with those seasonal Halloween pumpkin bottles, and the polishes usually don't have names.

I tried to get a picture of this glowing in the dark, but it was rather difficult. In real life, this has a very vibrant glow!

For Halloween, my fiance was Dexter and I was one of his victims. I painted my nails each a different color for an added effect just like the Ice Truck Killer's victim. Here is a picture I took of it on my phone.

I decided to stick with all solid colors. Here is what I wore:

Purple Glitter Blacklight Pumpkin

 This is a unique one- but it was difficult to capture with my camera. This is an unnamed bright purple glitter polish by Blue Cross. It's in a seasonal pumpkin bottle-which I can't resist. Apparently it glows under blacklight, but I did not have the opportunity to see what it looked like. There are subtle shimmer particles as well as tiny pieces of glitter.

With the flash, you can see the glitter more, but it gets lost in the polish for the most part. The formula was great and it applied in two flawless coats. The wear time was really good too.

I took a couple pictures with my phone in my car and indoors. (Sometimes I think my phone camera is better than my actual camera, but I can't enlarge the pictures as much)

Here's the one taken in my car. You can see how vibrant the purple is as well as some of the glitter particles.

Wet n Wild- Under Your Spell

Here I'm wearing Wet n Wild- Under Your Spell. This is in one of the older Megalast bottles and I found it in a clearance bin a couple months ago. It is a gorgeous dark vampy red that is almost black.

I was expecting this to look close to the bottle color on the nails, but it was much darker. It was pretty much red shimmer particles in a black base. The formula was pretty sheer and this needed three coats to be opaque.

This was super shiny, You can see how reflective it is! Unfortunately this developed some tipwear pretty quickly, so it didn't last very long for me.

Halloween Manis from the Week

I have a week's worth of manis to share. This week has been busy in the sense that I was either always out of my house or my fiance has been using the computer for grad school homework. (I prefer his computer over my slow PC) Enjoy!

This is Lacquistry- Witches Warts layered over Cetuem- 76. Witches Warts is part of the Halloween collection Lacquistry recently released. It consists of various sizes of glitter. There's black matte hex glitter and various sizes and shades of green glitter- some of it is prismatic. There are some tiny and large hexes in the mix also. Layered over Cetuem- 76, it was very Halloween! The glitter was so concentrated that I'm only wearing one coat of it. 

I've had Cetuem- 76 for a long time. I purchased it from a blog sale over a year ago and just never used it because it's kind of an odd color. It's like a muted dirty orange creme. The formula was amazing and I really liked the brush! I'm wearing two perfect coats. The only issue I had was that it got tipwear pretty quickly, but that's no issue if you change your polish as often as I do. I do not know a lot about the Cetuem brand, just that it's British.

 I received many compliments on this one. I am wearing Candy Lacquer- Autumn Leaves layered over Sinful Colors- Mesmerize. Autumn Leaves has various sizes of shredded red and yellow shards. Very fall! This was recently released in a Halloween collection. 

 These went together so well! I used two coats of Autumn Leaves and dabbed it around a little bit in order to evenly distribute the glitter. 

I took a picture of Mesmerize on its own before the layering, but it looks navy here. Instead it is an eggplant creme. It had a nice formula and needed two coats. Sinful Colors are pretty good quality for the price. 

Here's a flash picture in which you can see how purple Mesmerize is. In darker areas, it looked almost black. It was very vampy! 

 Last is Pretty & Polished- Them Bones. This is the final one that I had yet to wear from this year's Halloween collection. It's pretty unique! It has large white hex glitters, matte shards, and tiny bar glitter particles suspended in a murky black jelly base. 

I am wearing three coats of this. The way the glitter looks suspended in the jelly is amazing! The effect is so three-dimensional. The glitter was not gritty at all and this mani did not chip. It definitely looks like bones! My one criticism is that the larger hexes were difficult to get out of the bottle, but they were fine after I turned the bottle upside down for five minutes.

China Glaze- Mummy May I?

I have a quick post today. This is China Glaze- Mummy May I? from the 2010 Awakening Halloween collection. 

 Mummy May I? is a black jelly filled with smaller pieces of purple glitter. The formula was nice for application and it only needed two coats, which is great for a jelly. It's very glossy!

The only downside to this polish was the wear time. It chipped and had a lot of tipwear less than 24 hours after application. It was pretty while it lasted and it's a nice polish to have in a collection. I found this one dustying.

Vampy Skulls

I left this combo on for three days! I just loved it so much. It is Candy Lacquer- Sugar Skulls layered over Wet n Wild- Vampish Red. I'm keeping with the Halloween themed manis.

Sugar Skulls was recently released and it sold out super fast! I'm sure that there will be more in future restocks. It is filled with pink and white heart glitters, yellow flower glitters, large and medium white hex glitters, and medium blue, pink, white, and yellow hexes, and smaller pieces of prismatic glitter. This is one of the most unique polishes I own. It is so concentrated with glitter, that I am only wearing one coat of it over the base!

 Here's Wet n Wild- Vampish Red. This was released in a Halloween Fantasy Makers collection a couple years ago. I found it at a flea market. The formula was great! It was two coats. The color doesn't really remind me of red. It's more like a darkened red-toned purple creme.

New additions: OPI- What's Dune, and Lacquistry- Witches Warts, Jessika the Vampire Slayer, Heeere's Johnny!, and I Love Halloween. Candy Lacquer- Sugar Skulls was also new, but I wore it already! 

A Halloween Combo

This is a very unique combination! I layered Liquid Lacquer (formerly 2Chix Lacquer)- Goblin Spit over China Glaze- Solar Power. Goblin Spit is filled with various sizes of matte white hex and bar glitter, and larger pieces of transparent lime green glitter with a few pink ones. I just love how the transparent glitter looks layered over the yellow.

There was a lot of glitter in Goblin Spit! I didn't have to do much fishing- only for the pink pieces because there weren't as many in the bottle. It took me a while to figure out which base I wanted to layer this over, because a darker shade would show the white glitter, but not the colored glitter. Yellow was a good decision!

I love having short nails again also!  I applied two coats of Goblin Spit.

Solar Power is a medium yellow with a subtle hint of shimmer. It was a little bit streaky and it needed three coats for opacity. I own very few yellow polishes, but when I wear them, they're enjoyable.

Recent Manis

 I've had another busy few days, so I'm catching up on what polish I have worn. Here I have Loreal- The Temptress' Power. This one was also released this fall as part of the Project Runway limited edition collection. It's a shimmery orange- toned tan filled with blue/green shifting shimmer! It's a hard one to describe.

 This was a little bit on the sheer side and needed three coats to achieve opacity.

My friends got married this weekend and had a carnival-themed wedding; so I did a mani that reminded me of cotton candy. I also chopped off my nails so they're nubs now. I layered one of the Blue Cross Halloween pumpkin glitters over OPI- Skull and Gloss Bones.

I just love how this looks on short nails! The glitter (which didn't have a name) is blue and magenta medium hexes suspended in a clear base. It was so concentrated, that this is only one coat of it. I applied it with a dabbing motion so that it was evenly distributed. I purchased this one recently, so check out your drugstore Halloween displays!

Here's OPI- Skull and Glossbones all by itself. It's a very light gray creme. It was a great formula and only needed two coats. It was from the Pirates of the Caribbean collection released in spring of 2011.
