Gray and Black Glitter

I have a gray and black glitter combination today. As a base I used NOX Twilight and then I topped it off with All That Glitters- The Gold Rush

The Gold Rush is absolutely amazing! It is composed of medium black hexes, small piceces of silver and black glitter, sparse pieces of black bar glitter and giant prismatic gold hexes. All of the glitter particles are suspended in a sheer black jelly base. The giant prismatic gold hexes were my favorite part about this polish. Look how they reflect rainbows in the sunlight!

Here is another angle of this. The Gold Rush was loaded with glitter and it only needed one coat over the light gray. If I was going to wear this alone, it would probably need about three coats.

All That Glitters nail polish can be purchased from the Etsy Store  for $8 a bottle. There are many awesome shades to choose from.

Here is NOX-Twilight in artificial light without the flash.  I am not certain if NOX Twilight is the name of this line of polish, but NOX Twilight was all that it said on the bottle, so I just assumed that this shade was named Twilight (it's quite festive for the movie release isn't it?) This was a pale sheer gray creme. I am only wearing two coats of it because I topped it off with The Gold Rush. This would probably need three coats to be worn alone because it was a little bit runny.

Here is a picture with the flash. I enjoy the packaging of these bottles. The Cullen seal is pretty neat. Twilight is one of my guilty pleasures! This is the only NOX shade that I own so far.

Dandy Nails- Come Out and Play!

I have a quick post tonight. This is Dandy Nails- Come out and Play! This is composed of tiny pieces of white matte glitter suspended in a purple jelly base.

The purple base on this red-toned. Although it is a jelly, it builds up very nicely. This only needed two coats. It has opaque coverage, yet you can see the white glitter in between the layers of polish. I received many compliments on this shade. These polishes can be purchased at the Dandy Nails Etsy Shop.

Some Early Halloween Polishes

I have two halloween-themed polishes to show today. I'll start with Pretty & Polished- Candy Corn. It i from this years Hella Wicked collection. It is a color-changing polish. It changes even more than other mood polishes that I own. It is very sensitive to temperature. I am amazed by this! It's orange for cold temperatures and turns yellow when it's warmer.

 Here's a picture where it leans more yellow, but still has the color-changing gradient effect. Candy corn is a jelly, so I applied three coats.

 At this particular moment I was cold, so it was all orange. The orange in this is more red-orange.

When I was warm, they were all yellow. Although it's a pretty yellow jelly, my nails are so stained that they look dirty under this! I assure that's just staining. I like this shade the best when it has the gradient effect between the yellow and the orange. Color changing polishes can be purchased via the Pretty & Polished etsy shop. I know I will probably order more eventually. They were so neat!

The next polish I have to show wasn't as neat.

 This is a vintage Wet n Wild Fantasy Makers polish. It's called Shinin'. I'm not sure what year it's from. It appears to be a pretty blue, but it's really just blue shimmer particles in a sheer gray base. The base was super sheer! I am wearing FOUR coats here! It probably would have been more ideal to layer it over another polish, but since the base was tinted gray, I didn't really know what to layer it over. Probably another gray would be the most compatible. The formula was so thin and streaky too.

I wanted to like this polish, and I do enjoy the color, but the formula was just soooo bad. Look at my tips! That's shrinkage from the Seche Vite. I had to remove this after a day of wear because it bothered me so much. It also took very long to dry. Maybe I'll try layering it over another shade in the future, but for now, I just wanted to be done with it.

And of course, there are some new additions and hauls!

 I participated in another secret swap in one of my local facebook groups. I got some sweet goodies from Jodi! Wet n Wild- Hollywood Walk of Fame, China Glaze- I'm Not Lion, China Glaze- Deviantly Daring, OPI- Gargantuan Green Grape, Venique minis- Havanah Glam, Side Walk Surfer, Pump up the Jam, and Ga-Lashes Glow. I also got a mini bottle of CND- Solar Oil (which smells like delicious almonds!), a nail polish ring, two pairs of earrings, and Cadberry Screme eggs!! I should use cuticle oil more often, but a lot of the time I don't like the smell of most brands, so I'll probably use the CND solar oil frequently because I love the smell.

 I did some damage at Sephora today. They had the Sephora by OPI Betsey Johnson collection polishes on sale for $5 so I picked up Alley Cat, XOX Betsey, and Sparkling Personality. I've been lemming the Nails Inc Sprinkles for a long time, so I finally caved in and bought them. These are my first Nails Ince polishes! I purchased Sugar House Lane, Topping Lane, and Pudding Lane. I would have gotten Sweets Way also, but it was sold out.

Pretty & Polished- Dalmatian Nation

 I'm wearing Pretty & Polished- Dalmatian Nation. This polish also reminds me of cookies and cream! It consists of tiny pieces of black matte glitter in a white jelly base and a few gigantic circular glitters. I am wearing three coats of it here. The larger glitters came out of the bottle without much fishing. I like the random patterns in which they formed on my nails.

 Just looking at this polish, it doesn't look like it would be that difficult to remove, but it definitely was! I didn't use the aluminum foil and acetone method, so it took me about four cottonballs with acetone. Those large glitters are hard to remove. I had to pry them off with a cuticle stick. Overall I really enjoyed this polish. I don't have anything else remotely close to it.

I scored some goodies from the recent Urban Decay sale:

 Here's the mini nail kit from last holiday season. The shades are Barlust, Mars, Wrecked, Ziggy, Gunmetal, and Hot Mess. I got such a good deal on these that I couldn't pass them up. I was reluctant to purchase them at full price. These are also my first Urban Decay polishes!

I also got the Skull eyeshadow palette. I couldn't get a good picture of the front of the palette because it was too reflective. The shades are: Cherry, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Grifter, Vert, Oil Slick (OPI Sparke-licious dupe), Shattered, Blunt, Chopper, and Twice Baked.

A $5 off coupon was included in the package, so I went back and ordered the vegan palette. It was on sale for $13, but the coupon pretty much covered the cost of the shipping.

KB Shimmer- The Square

 This is KB Shimmer- The Square. This is from the Clique Collection released in May but it has recently been discontinued. It has a ton of glitter packed into a medium purple jelly base.

 It was very easy to get opaque coats with this because there was so much glitter! I used three coats. More glitter came out of the bottle than base. Mostly all of the pieces of glitter are square. There is gold, blue, white, and tiny particles of blue glitter.

 This polish devours topcoat! Usually with most polishes, I'm fine with only using one coat of Seche Vite, but even with two coats of it, this polish was still gritty from the glitter. I definitely needed to utilize the aluminum foil and acetone method to remove this, and even with that it was rather tricky!

 I got my Cult Nails order from the recent sale. Here they are wrapped in the lil burritos!

I was waiting for Utopia- Gumdrops to become available again, and it FINALLY is mine! It was so worth the wait and I cannot wait to use it!

China Glaze- It's My Turn

 A while ago, I purchased China Glaze- It's My Turn. It is from the 2009 Kaleidoscope collection. It is an orange-gold holo. I unfortunately couldn't get any sun pictures because it stormed today, but I still took a few.

 The print on the bottle is definitely wearing off! I am wearing three coats here. It built up pretty nicely. I did get a huge chip out of my pinky so the wear wasn't that good. (If you look closely, you can see that I touched it up)

 I cannot stress enough how much I love holos! I'm in the process of trying to collect the older China Glaze holos from the Kaleidoscope and OMG collection. I own most of the Tronicas. I just chopped off my nails after these pictures were taken. They were getting too long.

I received some nail mail also! The first one is Twee & Honey- The Nirvana of Inebriation. This is an INTENSE silver linear holo. It's probably a very close dupe to China Glaze- OMG, which I don't own... yet. It came in the mail like 2 days after I ordered it. Great customer service. I want to order more polishes from this company. Especially Magpie and Sonic Rainboom. These can be purchased on the Twee & Honey website.  Prices range from $5-$13 depending on the polish. The Nirvana of Inebriation was $13. They also come in Italian glass bottles!

Second, I ordered Nails by Laura- Dani-Mite. This is a very special polish. Danielle, who the polish is named after was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Danielle and Laura teamed up to make this polish. There will only be 100 of these sold and 50% of the cost of the polish will go to the National Brain Tumor Society. I got number 37. Amy's Nail Boutique- Pink Lemonade

 This polish is very unique. It is Amy's Nail Boutique- Pink Lemonade. It is a combination of yellow and pink matte glitter in a clear base. It is rather sheer. I am wearing four coats here. I really enjoyed this shade, and for next time I may layer it over a pink or yellow.

 Pink Lemonade wore very well too! There is a small chip on my index finger because I went to the pool, but other than that everything was fine. The color combination of the glitters looks great together. The finish of this was actually smooth with one coat of Seche Vite. It didn't feel gritty like many glitters do.

Amy's Nail Boutique is a relatively new indie company. Amy has wonderful customer service! I received my polishes from her probably 2-3 days after ordering. She also has plenty of other nifty shades in her Etsy shop. Currently Pink Lemonade isn't in stock, but she usually posts restock dates on her facebook page. What does everyone thing of the matte glitter trends lately? I'm enjoying it!

I came across the Wet n Wild Fergie exclusives and I threw in a unique looking Sinful Colors- Pull Over because I don't own that many yellows. Sinful Colors are only $1.99 and they have a pretty good formula for the price. The Fergie ones are: Hollywood Walk of Fame, Glowstick, No Place Like Home, and Tonight's Gonna be a Good Night. Each of the Fergie polishes retailed for about $3.50 each.

Nail Venturous FLOAM!!!

I was so excited when I was able to purchase Nail Venturous- Floam! This was one of my top lemmings and it definitely did not disappoint. I love everything about this polish. The matte glitter, the 90s Nickelodeon nostalgia, the texture, and the color combination! I'm wearing three coats of this. It was really sheer for the first coat, and I was questioning how build-able it was going to be, but it looks perfect with three coats.

If I chose to layer this over a green or blue, it probably only would have needed two coats. You can even choose to add just one coat of this for some extra glitter instead of an opaque look. I'm completely mesmerized by this. I could not stop staring at my nails. I am impressed with the matte glitters that indie sellers have been releasing lately. I don't want to remove this! The label on my bottle was a little worn, but it arrived like this.

I got some nail mail!!!

Here's Pretty & Polished- Hearrts and Daggers. This is red, black, and white matte glitter of various hex sizes, bar glitters, and hearts! This is absolutely amazing and I cannot wait to try it!

 I went into American Apparel for the first time yesterday, and although the clothes were gorgeous, I was drawn to the nail polish! They were regularly priced for $6 a bottle, but they had a 3 for $15 special, so I just went for that. I got Violet Panache, Meteor Shower, and Galaxy. Violet Panache reminds me of a bluer glass flecked version of Rescue Beauty Lounge- Scrangie (which I still NEED to get). I don't own that many "shard" polishes, so Meteor Shower was a must. Gaxaxy was the polish I was drawn to first because I just love multicolored hex glitter! I own so many rainbow glitters and I just keep buying them.

My free Zoya Surf collection minis from the Pinterest promo arrived today. Here's Kimber, Zuza, and Myrta. I only had to pay shipping, but it was still an awesome promo! I already have a full-size of Zuza so I may consider swapping or giving the mini away to a friend.

There will be more hauls coming up! Yesterday Llarowe was selling Lynnderellas in her store and I was able to get 5 of them before she sold out. I got Chocolatta Love, Gotta Love Brains, One Nutty Fruitcake, Very Pretty Vampire, and Mercurial. Luckily yesterday was my payday. I may have to go on a no-buy in the near future due to this.

Sky Blue and Orange- What a Combo

 I had my fiance pick out this combo for me. Usually when he selects a combo, it's almost always something with crackle. He chose Funky Fingers- Orange Scales and Deborah Lippmann- Let's Hear it for the Boy. I just chose to do an accent nail with the crackle because I thought it would be too much on all of the nails. Let's Hear it for the Boy is a beautiful sky blue creme. It was opaque in two coats. It was from the Footloose collection. I really like the crackle effect the Orange Scales had. Many different shades of Funky Fingers crackle have been showing up at 5Below. I apologize if this mani is a little messy. Unpacking is still a bit hectic.

I got some indie hauls!!!

From Amy's Nail Boutique I got Pink Lemonade and Fiesta! Both of these are gorgeous matte glitters. I'm loving the matte glitter trend.  From Candy Lacquer, I got Argyle. This is another matte glitter polish with glitter in the shape of bars and dimonds.

My Lynnderellas from the wish list finally arrived! I got Sweets to the Sweet and Matter of the Heart. I now own 5 Lynnderellas, but I'm greedy and I want more! I plan on doing another wish list :)

KBShimmer- Shipwreck

I have a special polish today. Recently I have been buying more indies. This is KBShimmer- Shipwreck. It definitely reminds me of under the sea. There are so many colors of glitter in it. Silvers, greens, golds, light and dark blue, and little micro pieces of orange glitter. It is all suspended in a blue jelly. I am wearing three coats of this. The blue jelly is quite sheer, but it builds nicely due to the abundance of glitter.

The finish was a bit gritty due to the amount of glitter, but it wore really well. Some pieces of glitter stuck up, but I just pushed them into the polish with a toothpick while the polish was tacky. It was a topcoat eater, but fine with one coat of Seche Vite. This definitely needed aluminum foil and acetone for removal! 

KBShimmer polishes can be purchased on Etsy. Currently there is no nail polish in stock, but they are planning for another restock this month. I believe that they retail for $8.50 each. KBShimmer also has a great assortment of soaps and bath products!
