Color Club- Sugarplum Yum over OPI- You're a Doll!

I have another holiday-themed combo that turned out great! This is Color Club- Sugarplum Yum layered over OPI- You're a Doll!
Sugarplum Yum was released in the exclusive Sally's scented holiday collection last year. It is composed of small green hexes nad larger purple hexes. This polish also smells great! It smelled of berries with a little hint of grape.

Here is a picture indoors without the flash. Sugarplum Yum was so packed with glitter that it only needed one coat!

With the flash, you can see the distribution of glitter. Application was a breeze.

Here's OPI- You're a Doll! with the flash before I added Sugarplum Yum. You're a Doll! is very similar to "Sheer" Your Toys (featured in my previous post) only it's a pale pink shimmer. It has those very tiny copper flakes distributed throughout it. It is from the same collection, OPI's 2008 Holiday in Toyland collection. The formula of this one was thin, but it was opaque in three coats.

Without the flash. This pale pink is very elegant! It would be a great polish to use for a job interview.

Neon Pink and Flakies

This was a pretty wild combination. I selected two polishes that are very unlikely to go together. As a base color, I used a Sally Girl mini called Way Cool, which is a hot pink probably designed for summer. I topped it off with Color Club- Snow-flakes from this holiday's Winter Affair collection. This mani was definitely bright, so you may want to prepare your eyes!

Snow-Flakes is just your typical orange/yellow flakie familiar to Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure or Essie's Shine of the Times. I bought Snow-Flakes in a mini set that was exclusive to Sally's. The special thing about Snow-Flakes is that it is scented. Unfortunately I have a cold and I was unable to smell it! If anybody else owns this shade, let me know what you thought it smelled like.

I used two coats of Snow-Flakes on top of Way Cool. These flakies were definitely noticeable!

Here it is with the flash! WOW! It's interesting how it looks more red in natural lighting versus hot pink in the flash. I'll have to admit that I couldn't leave this mani on very long because it was giving me a headache!

Here's Sally Girl- Way Cool on it's own. This is without the flash in natural lighting. This is truly a neon. It is shown here without topcoat, and even though it wasn't completely dry it is showing a semi-matte finish.

Okay, shield your eyes..
This is Way Cool on it's own with the flash! It's super bright! I've read that China Glaze- Pool Party is pretty close to this if you'd like a dupe. I bought this Sally Girl mini probably almost 8 years ago! I only needed to use two coats of it in order for it to be opaque, but that is because the polish was on the thick side. I didn't bother thinning it because it ended up working well for me. Has anybody seen Way Cool at Sally's lately? i usually don't pay attention to the Sally Girl minis, and the newer ones that I own do not have names on them.

Also, just a reminder to enter the Thanksgiving Multi-Blogger Givaway! I cannot believe that I've reached so many followers in such a short period of time. I'm definitely thankful and I welcome all of you newcomers :) Good luck with the Thanksgiving giveaway!

Color Club- Santa's Cinnamon

Yesterday I wore Color Club- Santa's Cinnamon from the 2011 holiday Scentsuous collection exclusive to Sally's. The polishes from this collection are scented and this one smelled like Cinnamon. The smell was somewhat strong and delicious! I am wearing three coats here. There were some bare-looking spots with two coats, so I just did three. Most people could probably get away with doing just two coats.

In terms of the color, it's not very unique. Everyone has seen the red glitter jellies like China Glaze- Ruby Pumps, OPI- Speak for Your-Elf, etc. This one is a bit different in the sense that the glitter is larger than the micro glitter in other red glitter jellies. The glitter is more prominent and the texture is a bit more gritty. Red glitter jellies are really difficult for my camera to capture for some reason, but you could definitely see the glitter more in person. I got a few compliments on this polish too!
Although it smelled good, the color was pretty, the wear was TERRIBLE! This was taken less then 24 hours after application. (Sorry my camera was low on battery power and going out of focus). The polish is coming off in sheets!!! It also chipped on a few of my other fingers. It just started peeling off of the sides. I wasn't doing anything with my hands that would make polish chip. I'm wondering if there's an ingredient in scented polish that makes them chip easily. I remember Color Club- Gingerbread Man, also from this collection chipping less than 24 hours later also.

I embarked on some shopping trips, and here's what I got!

First I stopped at Rite Aid and they had this brand called Colorphase. I got this chrome light purple which doesn't have a name. You're supposed to apply the purple first, and then there's a clear coat with a nail art brush in it that you can use to decorate the base color. The color then changes to a darker purple in the spots where you put the topcoat. I swatched it and it worked pretty well. I thought the packaging was unique. I then went to 5Below and they had some Sally Hansen HD's for $5 for 3 bottles. I got Digital, Blu, and Cyber.
At Charlotte Russe, I found this LA Girl Glitter called Celebrate. It's red, silver, and blue glitter. I had yet to add a patriotic glitter to my collection. I got nail nail from Tini from Narcissistic Nails. She found some China Glaze Kaleidoscope polishes at a beauty supply store, so I bought Rated Holographic from her.

Color Club- Gingerbread Man and a Shopping Haul

I wanted to try out one of my scented polishes. This is Color Club- Gingerbread Man. It was released in the holiday 2011 Scent-suous collection that was a Sally Beauty exclusive. It is a gold foil and it smells like gingerbread! The application was fairly easy; just two coats. It took forever to dry!!! I painted my nails 2 hours before going out, and while I was out, they dented. You can see a little bit on my ring finger, but it was much more noticable in person. I decided to remove it the next day because the dents were bothering me. I also had a couple large chips out of the nails on my other hand. This polish didn't hold up well at all, but it was gorgeous while it lasted; plus it smelled delicious.

I went on a shopping trip yesterday. I decided that I would make up for lost time for not buying polish 4 weeks in a row. I definitely made up for that. On to the goodies!
I got this gem from Marshall's on clearance for $7. The brand is The Balm. All of the names are on the package. It has a $50 price tag on it so this was a pretty good deal! Each bottle was less than $2.

Next I stopped at ULTA to see if they had the OPI Spider-Man collection. They did! I got Shatter the Scales (green shatter), Your Web or Mine?, Call Me Gwen-ever, Number One Nemesis, Into the Night, My Boyfriend Scales Walls and they threw in an OPI basecoat for free. Of course the shade from the collection that I was most excited about, Just Spotted the Lizard was sold out. I ordered one of off eBay to make my collection complete- so it should be arriving soon!
I also stopped in Five Below and picked up two Funky Fingers polishes. This is Mrs. Mint- a mint green with subtle shimmer and Star-Studded, a prismatic gold glitter. I have a few shades in the mint green family, but the shimmer in Mrs. Mint really sold me. Plus they were 3 for $5 so you can't beat that. I purchased a third one, but that will be a surprise because I might use it for a giveaway soon *hint hint* On a non-nail related note, I will be moving to a new apartment shortly, so my life is going to be rather hectic for the next couple weeks, but I promise to put a giveaway in motion as soon as everything gets less-crazy.
