A Week of Holo Goodness

I have a super picture-heavy post that consists of the manis I had throughout this week. I wore all holographic shades! On to the holo spam! I took pictures in a variety of different types of lighting in order to capture the maximum holo effect. Sadly, it was cloudy outside for the majority of the week, so the best holo shots I got were indoors with the flash.

First up is OPI- DS Original. This is one of my most coveted holos, because it is very hard to find and OPI no longer makes holos this vibrant. This was the old "black label" formula. I was lucky to get this one in a swap. It is a medium purple holo with spectrums of color! This picture was taken indoors without the flash.

I took this while in my car. It was cloudy outside, but you can see a little of the holo.

Here you can see the color of the base. The formula was a bit thin, and this needed three coats to be completely solid.

This is Milani- Hi-Tech. The Milani holos are very good for the price. I recently found them on clearance at CVS. This is a light yellow-green holo. It is slightly more scattered but still gorgeous. This picture was taken indoors without the flash. This needed three coats to be completely opaque.

This is simply amazing! Color Club- Cloud Nine was released in the first Halo Hues collection in the fall. I needed to buy all of them! It is a light pink linear holo! Now this is how all holos should be! This was taken indoors with the flash.

This isn't a color-accurate picture of the base color, since I took it in my car while driving at night, but it shows off the linear holo effect very nicely.

Another one in my car in daylight. You can see the pale pink of the base, but since it was cloudy outside, the holo effect isn't as apparent. While a majority of holos I have worn require three coats to be opaque, this one needed two. The formula was perfect!!! The Color Club Halo Hues are kind of hard to come across in beauty supply stores, just because the demand is very high and they're sold out, but they are readily available on ebay or transdesign.com for reasonable prices.

Next is China Glaze- FYI. This is from the OMG collection released in 2009. These are rather hard to find. I believe I bought this one for around $15. The holo effect is just stunning. This is a taupe holo. This picture was taken indoors with the flash. This was another two-coater. It had some bare spots, but they were nearly impossible to see.

Lastly is Twee & Honey- The Nirvana of Inebriation. I just love the name of this! It is a silver holo, and a very close dupe to China Glaze- OMG (which I don't own). It is a similar holo to FYI only silver instead of taupe. This required three coats. I took this picture indoors with the flash.

Naturistics- Galaxy over Angelica- Genius

I have a pretty neat combo to share today. This is Naturistics- Galaxy layered over Angelica- Genius.

Naturistics- Galaxy is a vintage gem that I came across in a blog sale a few months ago. It is filled with larger bar glitters that are silver and prismatic. I only used one coat of these because although I like bar glitter, I find that if I go overboard with it, it will stick up on portions of my mani. I do not know a lot about Naturistics. I remember that they were a whole cosmetics company and I saw items at drugstores years and years ago. I own a few polishes from the brand, but I have no idea why this brand disappeared altogether.

As my base color, I used Angelica- Genius. This picture is without the flash. I received this polish in a surprise grab bag and I didn't know anything about it. This is the only Angelica polish I own. After a little bit of research, I found out that Angelica is a brand sold in Ireland.  It was a fun discovery!

Here's a picture with the flash. Although the application of this shade was a breeze, it needed three coats just because the color was a bit sheer. It is a gorgeous green apple shimmer! It reminds me a lot of Zoya-Midori only this has a bit more yellow to it.

Wet n Wild- Believe Me it's Real

This is Wet n Wild- Believe Me It's Real. This was released in their color icon series around the holidays last year. I was lucky to pick up the set of these when they were on clearance. 

Believe Me It's Real is bright blue micro glitter with some bigger particles of purple glitter. The texture of this was pretty gritty, even with Gelous and Seche Vite. I also had to file down my nails because the mirco glitter hung off of them.

Overall this was very bright, unique, and long-lasting.

The Milani holographics were on clearance. I got the whole set of them with the exception of the silver because I already had it. The shades are 3D, Hi-Tech, Cyberspace, Hi-Res, and Digital.

Glow-in-the-Dark and Halloween Costume Mani

 I was pleased with the result of this combo. I topped off a Blue Cross unnamed glow in the dark blue with Liquid Lacquer (Formerly 2Chix)- Safety Stick. There's a lot going on with this- shards and bars of black glitter, large sheer-color hex glitter, and small pieces of silver glitter. To top it all off, it glows in the dark!

I used two coats of Safety Stick and dabbed it around for even coverage. This picture is with the flash.

Without the flash, you can see the smaller silver glitter. The large colored hexes in Safety Stick came right out of the bottle and there was no fishing necessary.

Here is the Blue Cross glow in the dark polish by itself. 

 This is with the flash. It was somewhat sheer and needed three coats. Blue Cross is the same brand that comes out with those seasonal Halloween pumpkin bottles, and the polishes usually don't have names.

I tried to get a picture of this glowing in the dark, but it was rather difficult. In real life, this has a very vibrant glow!

For Halloween, my fiance was Dexter and I was one of his victims. I painted my nails each a different color for an added effect just like the Ice Truck Killer's victim. Here is a picture I took of it on my phone.
