The Vintage Gem: MAC- Pink Freeze

 I have a super old vintage gem today! This is MAC- Pink Freeze. I got it in a blog sale and I don't really know much about it except that it is really old. It's a pale pink frost.

 The formula was really runny, but surprisingly it was opaque in three coats. It was somewhat brushstrokey, but that's to be expected of a frost.

 It had a really smooth finish to it.

 Here's the bottom of the bottle. It apparently "expired" in March of 2000, so that's definitely an indicator of how old this is. I really like the square frosted glass bottles!

Bayou Blitz

 I wore a very special polish this past weekend. This is Pretty & Polished- Bayou Blitz. There is a lot going on in this polish! It has micro yellow matte glitter in a murky greenish-blue jelly base with the addition of multicolored large hexes of glitter! Wow, that was more difficult to describe than I thought.

 I am wearing three coats of Bayou Blitz. From the looks of it, you wouldn't think that there were too many large multi-colored hexes of glitter, but when I removed this, many of them were hiding beneath the layers of polish. I did have to do a little bit of fishing in order to get some of these larger pieces of glitter out of the bottle. I apologize that my sunlight pictures are a bit blurry. My camera was running low on battery power, and by the time it charged up, it was dark out.

 Here is a picture with the flash that is more in-focus. I just love this shade! It wore extremely well too. Besides one of the glitters that peeled off, there were no chips. It needed the foil method for removal.

Here are some recent additions: 

 My friend got me a Nicole by OPI Kardashians mini set and a full size of Rainbow in the S-Kylie. I had yet to try the Kardashian collection and I don't own that many NOPI's so I'm glad that I have them now.

I did some more dusty-hunting over the weekend (it's addicting!). I got Miso Happy with this Color, Bare it in Trafalgar Square, You Cannoli Imagine (all black labels), Designer de Better, Sea Ya Later Sailor!, and DS Jewel. 

Sparkling Coral

I have a really quick post for today. I wore three coats of Jesse's Girl- JulieG topped off with one coat of Nicole by OPI- Make U Smile. Sadly, this was the only color-accurate picture that I could get. The vibrance of the color was washed out in all of my other pictures. 

JulieG was a pretty thin formula and it needed three coats because it was very brushstrokey. JulieG was named after the YouTube video blogger, but since then Julie G had an entire Jesse's Girl collection released. This is the only Jesse's Girl Polish I own. I'm not really a fan of the brush. It was really tiny- almost like it was made for a child. The color was pretty after it was opaque. It is a true coral creme.

Nicole by OPI- Make U Smile was from the Justin Bieber collection released last year. I'm not really a fan of the shape of the NOPI bottles or the massive brushes. This is a pretty silver glitter topcoat with larger hexes and tiny particles, only I had to fish around for the glitter in order to get some of the big hexes evenly distributed on my nails. The smaller glitter particles were easy to apply evenly on the nail. 

OPI DS Signature and a Pedicure for Buster

 Here I'm wearing OPI DS Signature. This is one of the original Designer Series shades released in Winter 2006. Yes, it is a linear holo! I wish that OPI still made them like this. I'm not really a fan of the newer DS shades. I got this one on ebay a while ago for about $10. It is a medium linear holographic pink. This picture is with the flash.

These next two pictures are on my window sill in the sunlight without the flash. Gorgeous Gorgeous Gorgeous! I could not stop staring at this and it was probably dangerous to wear while driving. The formula was really good for a holo. Usually holos need more drying time in between coats or else they will drag. This needed three coats for complete opacity.

I also went to the pool this week and it looked stunning in the sun! I wish I would have brought my camera with me to capture it. I really want to own more OPI holo DS shades. Especially DS Original!

I had some fun with my fiance's dog this past weekend:

This is Buster the chocolate lab. Some of you readers may remember him from the last pawdicure that I gave him. My fiance is sitting next to him haha. He's wearing the reindeer pajamas that I got him for Christmas LOL.

 I just did his back paws, because I didn't want him to get too bothered. I used Avon- Sweet Mint as a base color and Nicole by OPI- Rainbow in the S-Kylie. I don't own either of these polishes because they are my fiance's little sister's.

He's a little bit more content here! My fiance's parents also have a female dog, but she is too fidgety, so Buster had to do. Buster can be the poster dog for defeating gender norms about nail polish.

Pink with Holo Polka Dots!

I thought I would try to do a mani with dots, since my dotting tools from eBay arrived recently. I used Nicole by OPI- In the Nic of Time (2 coats) and dotted it with Color Club- Worth the Risque. This picture is without the flash.

Here it is with the flash. In the Nic of Time is part of the Nic's Sticks line. It's pretty much nail polish in a pen. It's a shimmery pink coral. Color Club- Worth the Risque is a beautiful silver holo. It kind of reminds me of OPI DS Coronation but it looks much more holo. I have yet to wear it on its own. I love the look of holo polka dots. This combo kind of reminds me of Minnie Mouse.

Here is In the Nic of Time before applying the dots (pre clean-up). I believe the Nic's Sticks have been discontinued, but I picked up a few at Trade Secret a while ago on clearance for $1 each. I really like how convenient these are, but I would never pay full price for one. ( I think originally it was $7). There is only .135oz of polish in these. You would probably run of the polish in these after a couple uses. The color of this one wasn't terribly unique, it reminded me of OPI- Come to Poppy. It also applied slightly streaky because the brush constantly has to replenish with polish. 

I ordered from All that Glitters a couple weeks ago, and my package finally arrived! The colors are Very Peacockish, Plum and Plummer, and The Gold Rush. I originally ordered Very Peacockish and The Gold Rush, but Kirsten was still waiting on a shipment of bottles from her supplier, so she threw in Plum and Plummer because it took some time to fill the order. This was awesome! I did not mind the delay at all. I believe she has all of them in stock at the moment, so get them while you can! They're very reasonably priced. It's $8 for a .5 oz bottle!

Very Peacockish is gorgeous! I can't wait to try it! 

Valentines Day Mani, Nail Mail, and CVS Haul

I decided to give a gradient mani a try. I used Wet n Wild- Hannah Pinktana with Nicole by OPI- Step to the Beat of My Heart. Hannah Pinktana is a sheer pink jelly with micro prismatic glitter. It worked very well for a gradient mani. How have I not tried a gradient mani before? They're amazing! I used the Step to the Beat of My Heart a few times before. In my head I call it Justin Bieber Hearts haha. Before I had difficulty with it because the pointy ends of the hearts would stick up and catch on things and rip off. This time I waited for the polish to get tacky after I put Step to the Beat of my Heart on and then I used a toothpink to press the hearts in the polish. This way all of the edges were submerged in polish. I then topped it off with Seche Vite.

I went to CVS and picked up some new polishes. I have seen pictures of the Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect line and have wanted them for a while. I picked up Dune and Sea. I have a job interview on Thursday so I figured Dune would be the perfect neutral. I picked up Sea because it was green!

CVS had the new Wet n Wild Spoiled line. I picked up Show Me the Money, Pet My Peacock, and Trust Fund Baby (Correction Tape dupe)

Shuffle the Deck, Ants in My Pants, Jewelry Heist, and I Gotta Confection to Make. Most of these glitters look like they are meant to be layered over a base color.

I then received some nail mail from Sherry from Happy Berry Naiad. This is Etude House- Bling Bling, and ORLY- Satin Society. I can't wait to try these!

One Less Lonely Glitter with Shatter Accent

Today I used Nicole by OPI- One Less Lonely Glitter and an accent of OPI White Shatter.

This glitter is part of the Justin Bieber collaboration with Nicole by OPI. Everyone criticizes Justin Bieber for coming out with a line of nail polish, but it was actually a genius marketing move. Now he has perfume too! I will not be buying that though.

Here it is with the flash. There were small particles of glitter with larger ones. The consistency of this glitter was the purple equivalent of Orly's Here Comes Trouble. I'm glad I just decided to do the accent finger with the white shatter, because it covers up too much of the glitter. Glitters do look interesting under shatters though.
