Sally Hansen Must-Have Iris, Nail Mail, and Collection Spreadsheet!

This is three coats of Sally Hansen Must-Have Iris from their Diamond Strength line. It really isn't my color. Sheer pinks are too girly for me. This shade would probably be more ideal for a french manicure. It has a bit of shimmer to it. I just bought it because it was on clearance. It's advertised to not chip, and it didn't chip at all in the two days I wore it. The application was good. It just wasn't me.

I then received some nail mail from Traci from The TraceFace Philes. She was selling some old OPI's in her blog sale. I got Back in the Saddle (look how old that bottle is!), Cuppa-Cawfee, Red Hot Ayers Rock, Cool in the Pool, and At Your Quebec & Call. I can't wait to try these!

This also arrived from eBay. It's Warm and Fozzie. This has been a lemming ever since I heard about it, but I never was able to find it in the stores.

I also created a spreadsheet of my collection. Currently my collection is in multiple shoeboxes and it's extremely disorganized. (I know, I need to invest in a Helmer!). Since I have a lot of time on my hands now and I was curious to see how many bottles I have, I created it. I'm up to a little over 500 bottles.

  1. So you are one of the ones that got a few of the shades marked sold when I got to Traci's last dusty hunt sale items she put up on her blog!!! Good going! She found some really old ones...love getting Black Label OPI's - the old formula is still my fav. Glad you got Warm & Fozzie. It's a color that I plan to let live as a keeper in my stash (not that I get rid of that many of them). Agree with you - that Sally Hanson is not a good compliment to your skin. But I can think of quite a few pinks that would look great on you, more in the mavue and antique rose pink range. I wear and like pinks but this one I would turn my nose up to as well and probably would look as meah on me as it struck you.

  2. Cannot find your email contact info on your blog site -so am sending it here. I would love if you would put into your blog the subscribe by email widget the Blogger offers. It's a one time easy thing to do. Blogger has Feedburner confirm the email addresses that anyone signing up this way has to link from the email address they subscribed under to confirm. I think you might get more followers if it's not limited to needing to follow via the Google Dashboard. I know I never get to my Dashboard, and many of my RSS readers. I do get through my email everyday or 2 however and try to comment on my blogs I am subscribed to. Hope you will add this as a feature. I only stumbled on your blog by random from a blog roll. Do please let me know if you add the sub. by email to this blog option so I can find my way back here and sign up. I hate to leave my email address in a blog - not sure how to do this so that I hear back from you. Probably would be a good idea to put your email under a about me/contact me so folks who have requests or down the road when nail product companies find you, they have a way to contact you to send you polish etc for your blog review. Right now no way for that to ever happen. Fun to think that you might get a good following and have PR coming to you. I cannot subscribe to the responses to this post as Google recently ate my gmail account that this is tied to. I set up a new gmail account. I need to go and try and see if it works and my GCF is linked now to the right email - I think it all got horribly goofed up. But please do consider adding a subscribe to blog by email widget to your blog. Many readers also like Bloglover as an option. I like it better than Dashboard, but many times don't get to everything I have coming to my email via Bloglover - it comes late in the evening. Timing seems just off for my computer time. Let me try this for you to get back to me - and certainly feel free to delete this comment - it has nothing to do with your post - just as I said - only way I see to reach you. msmorro{{at}}charter{{dot}}net - thanks Beachgal

  3. I was so happy to get those old OPI's! I really want to go dusty hunting someday but I've been nervous about how to approach it haha. I can't wait to try out Warm and Fozzie! I don't mind some sheer pinks, but I just didn't like the look of this Sally Hansen one. It could be because my nails are stained and they look yellow underneath too. OPI Melon of Troy is in the same color family, only it's opaque and I love that shade. I like light pink sheer shimmers too like OPI Princesses Rule. OPI In the Spotlight Pink and Zoya Bela worked well with me too. I guess it's just trial and error because its hard to tell how they're going to look just by looking at the bottle. Hopefully the other Sally Hansen Diamond Strength polishes I got on sale look better with my skin tone.

    1. If you like OPI Princesses Rule - you are going to LOVE the new Suzi Peddle Faster (I think that is what it's called) in the soon to come out OPI Holland Collection - whatever the name is - it's the only pink one in the collection. It's outstanding from the early swatches I have seen. I also saw some side by side comparisons of OPI Holland vs. Zoya's new collection for spring 2012 (Touch). There were 3 that were pretty close to dead on dupes - the darkest purple in each collection, Bevin (Zoya) & Windamill I think the OPI name is, last one of the blues in the OPI collection and I am forgetting which - think it's the darker blue being close to Skylar in the Zoya collection. So I am waiting to buy any of the Touch by Zoya until the Holland collection is out. I ordered the spoons from Zoya to take with me. Several who have both collections mentioned they liked the OPI formulas on all 3 that were super close in color.

  4. Great collection! I am working on my database. I was going great guns then left home for 8.5 weeks of surgery and post top time they would not let me go home for. I 'played' shopping on line to cheer me up. When I got home I had another good 300 bottles of polish and I had still not finished data entry on what I had before surgery. Pretty much I have separated out my dupes which I am going to stop doing unless I KNOW it's going to be a super hard to get on for sure down the road and I simply adore it. I too have a storage problem as you do. I hear Helmers hold 500. I don't have the open space in my house to put maybe 5 or more Helmers. There is an Alex some bloggers are looking at with ? if the bottoms will fall through on the drawers. Melmers (a spin off from the name Helmer) found at Michale's craft stores & you can put 3 together before they get tipsy. Trying to decide what furniture I can get rid of and how to re-arrange furniture in my tiny cottage to fit in Melmers/Helmers/Alex - I'd like to get rid of 80% of my furniture - it's so stuck in the late 80's, mid 90's. But alas, not now as I would want to replace with clean, modern line. That's after I win the lottery I think! But I applaud you for getting your database done and I see it's all caught up with your new babies from Traci's sale. That's the best, get anything new, get them on the database ASAP. So congrats-I am going to use yours for some references on the collection some things are from.

    1. Thanks! I actually enjoyed creating the database haha. I recently finished grad school, so I've been going through withdrawal not having any homework to do! It was nice being able to organize my collection in some way, and I'm going to try to keep up with it. The most time-consuming part was googling different shades to see which collections they came from. I'll probably end up getting a helmer eventually. I live kind of close to an IKEA. It's tough being in a one-bedroom apartment though! I recently got a Kindle so I was able to get rid of a lot of books that I now have digital copies of so that frees up some space.

  5. Did you get my suggestion on adding a subscribe by email option to the blog? I might not have done the CAPTCHA I am thinking.

    1. I got it! Thanks for the suggestion. The comment showed up automatically in the spam section just because it discussed email. Let me know if I added the correct gadget. It's "follow by e-mail" right? This helps a lot because I would love to get more followers.

  6. Nice stash! I think you might want to consider just going right to two Helmers. :)

I wonder how the Sally Hansen would look over a deep purple--seems it's sheer enough to layer.

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I might just get two Helmers haha. They stack on top of one-another right? I don't see myself downsizing the collection anytime soon and it just keeps growing!

I'll have to try layering Must-Have Iris. I think I will appreciate it more than just wearing it alone.
